“Hoş geldiniz!” This simple phrase is perhaps one of the most commonly used greetings in Turkish. Although usually translated as “welcome,” it can perhaps more accurately be rendered as “you came pleasantly.” Those who receive this greeting respond with the words “hoş bulduk”—or “we found [you] pleasantly.” As foreigners living in Istanbul, we too have found Turkey pleasantly—the people, the place, and, perhaps most importantly, the food. Hoş İstanbulduk!

I'm not sure if they do it in the fall/winter, but the Sakip Sabanci Muzesi had an impressive brunch spread during their "Jazz at Breakfast" summer series: chunks of bal petegi; plates of cesitli-degisik peynir scattered with walnuts; tarcinli sherbet (with extracts of visne, pomegrante, and sweet grape juice); etli borek...
I recommend Yakub II! But what I wanna know is, where is the best cig kebab place in Istanbul?

I would highly recommend Hamdi Restaurant in Eminonu, close to Misir Carsisi. Everything is reaaly good there, but try especially its "icli kofte" and "findik lahmacun" and also try to find a seat at the 3rd floor where you will have a view of Galata bridge.
